Originally constructed to carry the trams, the bridge in the foreground is no longer there. On the back of the card the sender writes that "This is the south side of the bridge. Our river is not very wide but deep enough for large vessels, about twenty feet at low tide. The banks are high so that only motor boats can be conveniently used. There are a great number on the river."

This card has a brown "wrapping paper" border. The Torry's published several cards with this border, but this card is the only example I have seen of this border being used by James MacLean.

This view was taken from a high spot above the West Side Park looking back toward the downtown area. Addressed to Miss Martha Thurston, Sandford, Yarmouth County, NS., the sender dated the card Jan 4, 1910 and wrote " Dear Friend, I got your letter today and was glad to her from you and was glad to her that you got so many presents. I was pleas of the presents you sent and tell Roby that I was like it fine. I will wright latter. (Signature is not clear but may be Jimmie or Jamie N).

Addressed to Miss Sadie Jardine, White Hill, Pictou Co., Nova Scotia. On the front of the card, the sender tells Sadie "don't let W.H get that light turned down too low or it will go out." Was this a veiled comment about a relationship between W.H. and Miss Jardine?

Although this view was quite popular and reprinted by Torry's & Warwick several times, this particular card is very unusual for its much smaller size. The card is only 5 1/2" x 3 3/16", where most vintage cards are 5 1/2" x 3 1/2".
